I need an assignment. I am clearly out of ideas. I assign my students a project called the "Scavenger Hunt". I give them a list of 10 vague but rich words and ask them to try and visually articulate them using the photographic medium.
If any of you out there want to send me a list of words to photograph I will do my best to respond to them photographically.
Much obliged!

ReplyDelete(I don't know why i decided they all had to start with B, but whatever.) Hope this helps! Love you and your blog!!!
Also, When I first say your last photo, I thought it was a picture of the rear end of an animal and it's tail. cool pic!
ReplyDeleteI meant to say 'saw your latest photo'
ReplyDeleteOk here is an idea...how about themes - we're headed into spring so that could be a start. Images that symbolize spring, birth re-birth or even images depicting coming of age. Another interesting genre (since you teach History of Photography) could possibly be shooting in the style of some of the master photographers - it'd be cool to guess which photographer's style you shot when you post the images. Just some random thoughts before I had my coffee :)
ReplyDeleteDo the words need to relate to each other? Here are some: Control, process, change, distrust, perspective, covet, conveyance, defeat, create, destroy.
ReplyDeleteI remember when Mr. O'Malley assigned us to photograph conspicuous consumption and I had NO FREAKING IDEA what it was. I'm fairly certain he was making fun of us -- or maybe trying to wake us up from our privileged stupor. In my case, I never got the joke. So how about that assignment? Conspicuous consumption? Or affluenza? Or naivete?
ReplyDeleteDon't let yesterday use up too much of today
ReplyDeleteOpportunity, Trust, Exuberance, Sorrow, Nail (hmmm... which kind?), Courage, Success, Failure, Focus
ReplyDeleteHope that helps...

How about a letter such as V, Z, U, or O. Or maybe Verb, Eyes, Verticle, Youth. I better be careful, it may end up my assignment.
